Bird walks are back! Currently there are not enough designated bird walk leaders for a full schedule and we are still under some COVID restrictions. We are posting what we have on our website Upcoming Events Calendar, which is in this section of the website. We held a ZOOM meeting discussing our need for more leaders and have had encouraging responses. We will have more announcements soon. In the meantime, check out what is on the calendar. POP-Up Bird Walks
Percha Dam State Park
When: October 9, 2025. From 8-11 A.M.

Join us for a morning of birding at Percha Dam State Park on October 9, 2025, from 8-11 A.M. We'll explore various areas of the park, starting at 8 a.m. in the woodland area. This will take us from the woods to the pond and finally to the dam and river to observe the water birds.
Directions: To get there take 1-25 N toward Albuquerque, Follow 1-25 N to NM-187 S in Sierra County, Exit from 1-25, Turn left onto NM-187 S go 1 mi turn left onto E. Grand Percha Rd. .4 mi Slight right onto Percha Dam Canal Rd .8 mi. You have arrived, drive to meeting spot. No park pass is needed, as state parks are free for NM residents from October 1 until April 30. Don't forget to bring a lunch, bug Repelent, a hat, and binoculars!
